Semester project; Dynamics

Today, i started the semester project for Dynamics 2030. This is a very intensive Mechanical Engineering class that involves very advanced physics topics. I have learned a plethora of information in this class. Topics such as; At what point in time do you apply the boosters of a space shuttle to throw it into an elliptical orbit and how fast is it traveling to escape its current orbit? To answer said question, the space shuttle is roughly traveling at 5 miles per second... yes, you read that correctly, 5 miles per second. To find this, we had to use concepts such as angular momentum, conservation of angular momentum, Newtons gravitational force equations, and so forth......oh, and a crap ton of math, simplifications, substitutions and manipulations of equations.

Ok, now that you have an idea of what the class is about, imagine sitting there in class, thinking that the semester project will be related, then all of a sudden, you are thrown a curve ball and asked this question..

Projects as goals

You will notice that alot of my posts under goals are projects. Why do you think that is? I want you to ponder that question for a moment.

Sketchup for engineers

Its been a dream and a goal of mine to create a online youtube course for engineering students around the Sketchup Pro software. When it comes to 3d design and drawing, Sketchup Pro is the easiest by far. I have been 3d sketching for years now. I am certifide in Solidworks, have completed the professional level courses as well for solidworks in a drafting course offered through a tech school, i have finished my certification in drafting at slcc for autocad, inventor and pro-engineer.

Teaching others my classes

One of the best ways to learn a subject.... teach it to someone else. Now, when it comes to math, finding someone who needs help with math and wants to learn it is not to hard, but finiding someone to teach other subjects such as physics, thermo, chem, dynamics, strengths and any of the other crazy science classes to is, well, almost impossible. Not alot of my friends want to sit down and have me teach them. They like hearing about it, but not being taught the stuff haha.

Building a 3d printer with piper1

I have been striving to get more hands on of engineering projects so that i can eventually land a good paying job. Since schools do not offer hardly any hands on, i have had to take matters into my own hands.

Goals

This post is gonna be short, Why? Because there is not alot to discuss. Someone last week asked me what my goals are for life, school, work, etc..

My answer was simple... Wherever my feet take me. I have found that for me, not everyone, but for me, that if i set to big of a goal, it can actually be a stumbling block for me.  IE, for my schooling, i will be done with school when im done with school. Im not going to push myself beyond the breaking point. Yes, ill stretch myself, but im not going to add any un-necessary stress or anxiety because society tells me that i NEED to be done with school at this specific of a time or that i need to be doing this or that. Goals are important, just remember, they are not supposed to make you depressed...

Bat and bird rescue

Over the years  i have had the experience of raising rescue birds due to them falling out of the nest, getting abandoned by the parent or whatever else the reason may be.

Fixing a shoe with a 3d printed mesh matrix

I came up with an odd idea the other day.. to fix my shoe.. and it worked!?!?

Working at a treatment center

When people find out what i do for a living, they get confused because they thought i was an engineering student.. I am... But i also have been working as an emotional guidance counselor at treatment centers and a private high school the last 7 years of my life..

Not enough hands on

The hardest part about a Mechanical Engineering degree, besides the entire thing being math and theory, is getting the hands on experience needed for a career. I have spoken to many Engineers, whom, back in the day, received all their hands on IN class. They are frustrated theses days to see how Universities, and other higher education institutions are failing to provide the necessary tools and training for students.

Being a high school teacher

When i first started Engineering school, i struggled with my math, in fact, i dropped out of math in high school. Even though i was able to graduate from highschool in 2003, i told my self i would never ever need math again. Wow, was i wrong. After taking a 7 year break from high school, working for L3 communications as a network engineer and cyber security specialist, i decided to go back to school... in engineering... a degree FULL of math.
